Through this service, you can apply for attesting one or more declarations related to marital status, custody or dependency, including (declaration of unemployment, non marriage {celibacy}, lack of solvent breadwinner, having no current wives, lack of suitable housing, lack of source of income, non-marriage after divorce, non marriage since the death of husband, divorce without reinstatement of marriage, inability to provide a housing for the family, affirmation of custody, provision of comprehensive support, housing support, provision of shared support, sole breadwinner)

Service Process

Service Process

  • Submit the request and required documents through available channels.
  • Pay the prescribed fees, when the request is approved
  • Verify your identity when appearing before the attestation officer, by any available means
  • Receive the required (marital status, custody, dependency) declaration, as the case may be.
Required Documents

Required Documents

  • Valid Emirates ID card of the persons involved
  • Official document evidencing widowhood, e.g. notice of succession (in case of requesting a declaration of non marriage after the death of husband)
  • Official document evidencing separation or divorce (in case of requesting a declaration of non marriage after divorce)
  • Official document evidencing child custody (in case of requesting a declaration of custody)
  • Official document evidencing blood relationship (in case of requesting a declaration of providing support)
  • A document evidencing the solvency of the provider e.g. employment certificate (in case of requesting a declaration of providing support)

Rules and Conditions

General conditions:
  • If the certification is for a person who has not completed 18 years of age, his / her guardian or curator must be present.
  • If the document submitted is a court judgment, it must be final and unappealable.
  • Judgments issued outside the country must be stamped with the executory wording by the competent court.
  • If the person concerned or one of the parties fails to attend or is incapacitated, debilitated or is a legal person, the application must be submitted by a person acting on their behalf legally or lawfully, with the proof evidencing so.
  • If the document is not in Arabic, it should be translated by a legal translation office certified  by the Ministry of Justice.
  • Any document issued outside the country must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
  • No transaction shall be issued or attested if it is disputed between the parties at the time of attestation; or if it is within the jurisdiction of another authority, or otherwise contravenes sharia, laws, public order, or regulations.
  • The judge may request any document that he considers necessary to prove the incident
    Special conditions for marital status declarations:
  • If the parties involved are not UAE or GCC citizens, their passport must be presented
  • The applicant (declarant) should not present any document that contradicts what he seeks to prove or declare
  • In case of revocable divorce, an official certificate issued by the  competent authority evidencing that marriage has not been reinstated must be submitted (for declarations of non-marriage after divorce)
Special conditions for custody declarations:
  • If no official document attesting the right to custody is presented, the ex-husband must be present.
Special conditions for dependency declarations:
  • The dependent should be the most worthy of support among the deponent’s relatives.
  • Two adult witnesses having knowledge of the deponent and the incident to be witnessed must be present (for sole breadwinner declarations).
  • In case of supporting a married, divorced or widowed mother, a document evidencing so must be submitted, along with an affirmation of non-reinstatement of marriage in case of revocable divorce, or a medical report stating that the husband is not able to work and earn money in case of marriage (for sole breadwinner declarations)
  • If the son is giving support to his father, brothers, or some of his descendants or ancestors who are incapable of making money, a medical report shall be submitted indicating their injury or disability which prevents them from working  (for sole breadwinner declarations).
  • This service is limited for the purposes of the National and Reserve Service (sole breadwinner declarations).
